C and C of Angel Fire Says, “I Know Jo”, Do You?

C and CBy Jo Mixon

Our featured I Know Jo business of the week is C and C Flooring and Construction of Angel Fire.

Craig Vanderlei and Chase Castillo make up the “C and C” of C and C of Angel Fire. Having been friends for years while playing on the same baseball team, they “threw” around the idea of a partnership. Both of them had built good reputations in Angel Fire for the work they did individually. It made sense for them to come together with their expertise so as to offer their whole gamut of services together as one business. So in January, 2010, C and C of Angel Fire opened its doors. They offer sales, installation, and service on flooring of all kinds; wood, tile, or carpet. But that is only half of all the jobs they perform. With 15 full time employees, each bringing their own set of skills and knowledge, C and C of Angel Fire is a one stop shop, so to speak, for remodeling and construction. They offer rockwork, painting, staining, and roofing. Plus not only will they oil your deck, they will build you a deck. Craig told me its more cost efficient to do the work themselves than to contract it out.

The employees I was privileged to meet as they prepared for or did their work, were quick to say that Craig and Chase owners and Theresa and Ashley who run the office, treated them with great respect. I spoke with Ralph Ramos while he installed carpet on a job. He told me that these guys were great people. He said they’d even do his grocery shopping if he needed them to! That to me says a lot.

Chase and his wife Theresa moved to Angel Fire from Deming NM in 1999. They now have 2 daughters. Craig brought his family, wife Tina and their 4 children to Angel Fire from California 8 yrs. ago. Both Craig and Chase stress the importance of family. They saw the beauty and the opportunity in the Moreno Valley and they intend to raise their children as permanent residents of Angel Fire.

If your in need of remodeling or just want to say hi, go see them at 3375 Mountain View Blvd. Also, be sure to mark your calendar for Thursday Nov. 3rd at 5:30 so you can come help us celebrate their new location and showroom with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony followed by a Business After Hours/Open House. Mountain Comforts Furnishings & Design Says, “I Know Jo”, Do You?

Mountain Comfort Furnishings & DesignBy Jo Mixon

Our featured I Know Jo business of the week is Mountain Comfort Furnishings & Design/Taos.

This week I got to travel through the beauty of the Taos Canyon as I ventured over to El Prado to visit with our new Angel Fire Chamber member Bill Jarski, owner of Mountain Comfort Furnishings & Design of Taos. When I stepped into his store I was pleasantly surprised to find a vast selection of quality mountain elegant furniture, light fixtures, and other decorative accessories filling every nook and cranny of space within the 2-story showroom. Having been in the furniture business for over 25 years, Bill has built relationships with various manufacturers helping to give him an edge on savings and quality that he passes onto his customers.

I met with store manager and in-house designer, Kelly Geddes. She said what she would like people to know is that they carry items to cater to every pocket book from large to small scale. Their overall selection is well priced, U.S. made, top of the line products. They are equipped to handle a variety of full custom ordered designs, anything from unique copper bathrooms to the unusual boutique items. And not only do they work with the individual buying public, they also work with the local design community offering full installation. They will deliver anywhere in the world!

Mountain Comfort Furnishings & Design in Taos has New Mexico’s exclusive for the HGTV designer Candice Olsen’s furniture line. She offers over 800 fabrics from which you may choose, allowing a personalized product with a lifetime warranty. Their newest addition is a leather furniture store located next door to the main showroom. A couple from Angel Fire was shopping during the time of my interview, so we all walked over. The smell of the leather as Kelly opened the door was incredible, and the leather furniture large and inviting. To round out their business they also own Taos Mattress with its superb quality bedding which includes the Simmons Beauty Rest line at non-advertised low pricing.

Bill and his wife, Heather, opened their Mountain Comforts store in Taos about 7 years ago. They are a family run operation established in 1986 with franchise showrooms also located in Frisco, Co., Kremmling, Co., Lake Tahoe, Calif., and Couer d’Alene, Idaho. Heather runs the franchise headquarters out of the Frisco location with Bill traveling between Taos and Frisco.

Located in the Overland Center of El Prado, 1405 Hwy. 64, Bldg. #2, they invite you to take the trip over for a visit and enjoy the Taos Canyon on your way. Or visit their website at www.mountaincomforttaos.com.

Pioneer Title & Escrow Services / The Real Estate Law Office of Richard W. Norris Says, “I Know Jo”, Do You?

Pioneer Title & Escrow ServicesBy Jo Mixon

This week our featured I Know Jo business is Pioneer Title and Escrow Services / The Real Estate Law Office of Richard W. Norris.

This week I am pleased to introduce you to Rick Norris, Real Estate Attorney. Although his home office is in Orlando, Florida, his office here in Angel Fire provides a service to the Moreno Valley second to none. They are equipped to meet your needs with any legal or title service related real estate transaction. This includes not just purchasing property, but they will help you in sub-dividing land, refinancing, easement work issues, title clearing legalities, boundary-line disputes, and various other general legal services. They can structure a short sale or negotiate settlements with creditors. The company is a paperless company with this office hooked directly into the Orlando office. Samantha Weeks mans the office here at their Centro Plaza location, but with the system they have in place, it is as if she is also in the Orlando office! They are in the process of implementing video conferencing. What did we do without modern technology? Samantha has been the full time representative and the face of Pioneer Title since they opened their doors. Rick says she is an extremely valuable asset. Along with daily contact, he comes into the Angel Fire office approximately every six weeks.

Rick and his family purchased property in Taos Pines in 2003. Their friend, who is also the obstetrician that delivered 2 of their 5 children, had come to the Moreno Valley for a vacation. They asked him how he liked it and the Dr. friend told them it was such a beautiful place he purchased property. On that recommendation Rick and his wife came out for a visit, felt the same way, and they too purchased property. Since Rick’s expertise is almost exclusively in Real Estate Law and he saw a need for his services, he decided to get licensed in New Mexico to help with the Real Estate transactions in this area. He passed the New Mexico bar in April 2007 and opened Pioneer Title that same month. Originally from Ohio, Rick went to Law School at the University of Denver, and is now licensed to practice Law in New Mexico, Colorado, and Florida.

So when your in need of legal assistance pertaining to real estate, please give them a call at 575-377-9980 or toll free 888-411-0907. For more information visit www.pioneertitle.bz or come on into see them at 3407 Mountain View Blvd., Angel Fire, in the Centro Plaza.
