Angel Fire Garden Club Says “I Know Jo, Do You?”

The Angel Fire Garden Club District II is hosting the 63rd New Mexico State Garden Clubs 2012 State Convention here in Angel Fire May 29 thru May 31. Everyone is welcome to attend. It sounds like it will be packed full of fun! They are very excited about the programs and activities scheduled for the convention.

One of the fun things will be the fabulous cowboy boots I have pictured here. In preparation for the convention, the Angel Fire Garden Club asked many of the local artists in Angel Fire to paint and donate an old cowboy boot. In keeping with the theme ” Putting on the Glitz, Ranch Style”, these creative masterpieces will be the table decorations at the dinner banquet, Wednesday night . Some of them will be auctioned off. And the convention theme poster painted by Katherine McDermott is available for purchase too.

Attendees will be dazzled by the Ranchitas Dancers. Not only are the Garden Club ladies expert gardeners, they are skilled performers. Under the watchful instruction of Club President, Diane Peterson, they have put together a couple of western swing routines to be performed at the Banquet Dinner. I was very privileged to have been invited to watch dress rehearsal. They performed their routines only for me. This “I Know Jo” job sure has its perks!

Members of the Angel Fire Garden Club collectively take care of three signature gardens for Angel Fire; the Butterfly Garden at Shuter Library, the Meridian Garden on North Angel Fire Road and the Blue Star Memorial Garden at the Vietnam Memorial.

Family Cowboy BBQ

Enjoy a roundtrip scenic chairlift ride on the Chile Express. At summit there will be a BBQ, live entertainment featuring Cowboy Bob (a cowboy poet and musician) and horse wagon rides provided by Roadrunner Tours. Kids 5 and under are FREE!

Volunteers For Angel Fire’s Spring Clean-Up Day Say, “I Know Jo, Do You?”

Hats-Off, kudos, heart felt thanks, appreciation and hugs go out to all the fabulous servant hearted volunteers who helped to make Angel Fire’s Spring Clean-Up Day a great success! Last Saturday morning at 8:30 am fifty-eight people came out to spruce up Angel Fire. It was cold. It was raining. It was muddy. It was windy! But nothing deterred the spirit of these community minded dedicated volunteers! So this week I want to recognize them and say Thank-you.

These fifty-eight people picked up trash covering an area of over ten miles of highway inside and outside of the Angel Fire Village limits. Together they collected 82 bags of trash plus 9 bags of recyclable plastics, glass and cardboard. Wow!

After the hard work provided by the volunteers, we treated them to a tasty Bar-B-Q lunch at the Village Community Center. This lunch was made possible by several businesses donating their time, paper goods, drinks, and food. Again I want to recognize them!

Female Dog Found

A small, black and white female dog with no collar was found on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 in the Via Del Rey area of Angel Fire.

Chamber Of Commerce Annual Dinner

Luna Community College QuickBooks Classes

QuickBooks Beginner Class

This class is for anyone interested in learning about setting up the QuickBooks accounting software. The course will be a hands on learning experience and will include a quick crash course on basic accounting, getting around in quickbooks, setting up quickbooks, working with lists, i.e., chart of accounts, entering & paying bills, receiving payments, working with bank accounts and setting up inventory. Participants should have basic computer skills. There is a $65 fee for each workshop.
