The Angel Fire Resort Bike Park will be hosting one of the largest BMX events in the world this Saturday, August 10. For the past eight weeks they have been building one of the biggest courses in the history of BMX in preparation for Red Bull’s Dreamline BMX Race. Tickets are free but you must register online at www.dreamline.eventbrite.com. NBC will be in Angel Fire to film the race and will air it Saturday October 19, at 1:00 pm.
Now is the time to make your “Music from Angel Fire” reservations. August 16 through September 1st, magical music fills the air in Angel Fire. This year, jazz icon, Chick Corea, is the Composer-in-Residence. For more information please visit www.musicfromangelfire.org.
Please mark your calendars and plan to attend our 3rd 2013 Quarterly Member Meeting on Tuesday, August 20. We’ll meet at the Chamber of Commerce, in the Centro Plaza foyer, from 8:00 am to 9:00 am. Join us for coffee and burritos. We will feature two guest speakers. Tim Hagaman, who is the Community, Business, and Rural Development Representative for the State of New Mexico Economic Development Department, will be talking to us about “Your state Partner in Rural Business.” Ryan Hodge, owner of Angel Fire Mini Mart, will give us his thoughts on “Members Marketing Angel Fire Together.” You don’t want to miss it. We’ll be sharing updates on Chamber Group Insurance, a program the Chamber has been working to put into place for our membership, for almost two years. We’ll share good news about the state regional tourism district changes taking place. The state serves six distinct tourism destination regions within New Mexico with the purpose of working with the public and private sectors in an effort to facilitate regional marketing endeavors through their integration with statewide plans. And we are really excited that the “New Mexico True” state tourism campaign, being coordinating through the Village, is coming to Angel Fire in September! Are you New Mexico true? We will pass along more information soon.
August ends with great events planned for the Labor Day weekend. Stop by Centro Plaza, Saturday Aug. 31, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm for Arts About Town. Various artists and artisans will gather under the portal and into the foyer. The Moreno Valley Arts Council hosts this annual event. You’ll be sure to find many lovely and exceptional handcrafted authentic items. Afterward take a self-guided tour of stunning houses of various styles and designs, built by Sangre de Cristo Homebuilders, at the 6th Annual Parade of Homes. Pick up your tour maps August 31 or September 1, at the Angel Fire Visitor Center located in Frontier Square on Mountain View Blvd.
