SUMMER - WHITEWATER RAFTING
As Spring weather melts the deep, high-mountain snowpack, the rivers of Northern New Mexico become a whitewater mecca. The famed Rio Grande, as well as the Chama and Red Rivers, all bear the Wild and Scenic River designation in some stretches because of their unspoiled beauty. During the typical May through July river-running season you can enjoy rafting, kayaking or canoeing the famed rivers surrounding Angel Fire. The Rio Grande River has many sections of varying difficulty: The Upper Taos Box, The "Razor Blade", "Race Course", "Boulder Field" and the famed Lower Taos Box, the most popular whitewater run in New Mexico.
