KWK Events Says “I Know Jo, Do You?”

By Jo Mixon

KWK Events will help you put on the most amazing event you have ever had. They will take the stress out and put the fun in! Family reunions, corporate team building, youth group events, fundraising events… you name it. And they specialize in weddings!

Owner, Karen Kelley, has always had a passion for weddings. She worked as a marketer in the Ski Industry for over 30 years. Ultimately she would either start or be a major part in the wedding planning process at every Ski Mountain and Resort fo whom she was employed. In November 2017, she decided to funnel her passion by opening KWK Events. To date she has 32 weddings and events on the books, but she says there are still hundreds of dates available.

The contacts she has made by living and working, first in Angel Fire for 5 years and now Red River for 6 years, have helped to fuel her excitement. For many years she has envisioned these awesome events at various places all around the Enchanted Circle. First she toured the venues, businesses, and properties she thought would be good places to hold her events. Then she began to put them together. Because of this, she has partnered with the perfect people and venues to make any event a success. Her services are a one-stop shop so to speak.

Want to ride a ski lift up the mountain and get married with breathtaking views as your backdrop? Want to get married in a remote location with all of your guests arriving on horseback? Want to get married on a covered bridge that crosses your favorite fishing stream? Want to enjoy a fabulous romantic reception on the banks of a mountain creek, in a gazebo on the grounds of a fabulous venue, or inside a theater? You know, the things that make wedding day dreams come true for the happy couple? “Endless venue opportunities await you in Red River and throughout the Enchanted Circle with KWK Events coordinating your destination wedding or any special event and it will be managed with every detail expertly executed.” KWK Events is there for you. And as it says on her website, “There is no better place to host your special event.”

Karen says no budget is too small or too large. It always starts with your budget and an assemblence of order. Let Karen become your event concierge and she will help to make your wedding (or any other event) an incredible memory! When it is something so very important, trust an expert, KWK Events!

Karen chose to stay in this area after she retired, she said “Bob and I love living in Red River, we are retired… but not really!” Then she laughed. I’d say not really, they are anything but retired in their retirement, as both are two of the hardest working people you will ever meet. And the great thing about Karen is, you will never see her without that gorgeous smile! Give her a call. Book your next event and let KWK Events handle all the details with flawless execution! You will be so happy you did!

New Mass Notification System In Place

The Village of Angel Fire has implemented the Mass Notification System through Colfax County Emergency Management. This is an enhanced emergency notification system.

The system allows us to CALL YOU to alert you to an emergency in your area. The system uses phone numbers in the 911 database. These numbers are traditional or hard-wire phone lines. Our new system allows you to enter additional information into our emergency notification system to be called if there is an emergency in your area.

* There is no cost to you for this service and the information you enter is protected. *

With our new system you can enter your cell phones, a text device, email address, fax number, or work phone number. If you would like to sign up for alerts at your home address but also at your work address, our system will allow you to do that. You pick where, you pick how.

The Emergency Notification system will be utilized in emergency situations. Emergencies are defined as imminent or potential threats to life and / or property. Emergencies may include but is not limited to:

  • Missing endangered child (amber alert)
  • Missing endangered adult
  • Flooding
  • Wild fire
  • Police activity that would require you to evacuate or to take shelter
  • Natural gas leaks
  • Severe threatening weather (rotation in clouds, large hail with cloud rotation, tornado warnings)

The Emergency Notification system will also be utilized for non-emergency (yet potentially hazardous) situations. Examples of Non-emergencies are:

  • School delays and closures
  • Local Government delays and closures
  • Utility issues (broken water line, power outages, etc.)
  • Road closures

There will be no political messages or sales messages. It is our goal to keep the citizens of this community informed of dangers and hazards within the area, while minimizing any intrusion into your everyday lives. We do not intend to flood you with calls everyday. Please click on the following link to sign up for the Colfax Emergency Notification System.
