Simply Stunning Says “I Know Jo, Do You?”

simply-stunning-logoBy Jo Mixon

Jo & Kara Follin, Simply Stunning Owner

Simply Stunning is a newly opened women’s boutique in Angel Fire, New Mexico named purposely to sound expensive. But you will be pleasantly surprised to find it really isn’t. Kara Follin, owner/operator told me, “I have wanted to open a store in Angel Fire for many years. One that would cater to locals, as well as visitors, with affordable clothing.” She saw the opportunity to obtain a great location, when Studio 434 moved to Centro Plaza and decided now is the time.

In store clothing sizes range from small to 3x, for ages 12 to 112. You’ll find unique apparel of shirts, skirts, dresses, outerwear, winter fleece lined leggings, winter boots, designer hats, gloves and socks, jewelry (including silver, turquoise, and semi-precious stones) and accessories fill the rooms. There is something for every girl on your list!

Simply Stunning will feature monthly sales and specials. Open year round, store hours are Thursday to Sunday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm and Monday from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. When the slopes open store hours will change to 7 days a week: Monday to Thursday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, Friday and Saturday from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm.

Kara is a native New Mexican and has owned businesses since she was 13 years old. While she was living in Denver, her mom opened a store in Eagle Nest, so she moved back to help her out. On November 5, 2000, she and now husband Kurtis, met at the Lucky Shoe. He had recently moved to Angel Fire to work at the Resort. During their discussion they realized they had been living only one mile from one another in Denver, for years. It took them moving to the Moreno Valley to meet and fall in love. Sixteen years and 3 kids later, this has become home! They are excited about the new business venture and are looking forward to becoming more active in the Angel Fire community.

Stop in and shop at Simply Stunning, 11 Halo Pines Terrace, Angel Fire, NM 87710.

A Message From The David Westphall Foundation

hueyA message from the David Westphall Foundation and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial State Park.

Where’s the Huey?

The most asked question these days at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial State Park in Angel Fire. On October 21st, with the help from several wonderful people and organizations, the Memorial’s Huey, Viking Surprise, began its trip to Roswell to be restored to the condition it was in as a transport helicopter during the Vietnam War.

She is at at AirSale of Roswell, NM, where they will refurbish her and then send her to nearby Dean Baldwin Painting. Afterwards our Huey will be trucked back to Angel Fire and put back on display where she belongs, at our beloved Memorial.

Visit us on Veterans Day, November 11, 2016 in honor of all Veterans past and present.
