Friends Of Eagle Nest Lake & Cimarron Canyon State Parks Annual Meeting & Potluck

Please plan on attending the Annual Meeting & Potluck for Friends of Eagle Nest Lake and Cimarron Canyon State Parks.

When: Thursday, February 21, 2019 at 5:30 pm

Where: Eagle Nest Lake State Park Visitor Center

Bring a dish to share. Paper plates, plastic ware, coffee & ice tea provided by Friends. Review past year’s activities, suggestions for this year’s activities, nominate and elect three board members.

    • Discuss/Action regarding request from NM State Parks to partnership with NM State Parks to assist with a Girl Scouts National Campout at Eagle Nest Lake and Cimarron Canyon State Parks on July 13, 14, 15.
    • Discuss/Action Photo Contest to generate more photos for Friends website and Facebook pages.
    • Discuss/Action regarding invite by Gateway Museum to co-sponsor Paddle It! June 22-23, 2019.
    • Discuss/Action regarding renewal of Cooperative Agreement with NM State Parks that expires in April 2019.

Ice Fishing Tournament

The annual Ice Fishing tournament will be at Eagle Nest Lake, Eagle Nest Lake State Park, NM @ January 28, 2017

When: January 28, 2017

Where: Eagle Nest Lake State Park Visitor Center

Contestants may begin fishing Tournament eligible fish anytime after registering. Tournament catches must be turned in at the registration location by 2 pm to compete for Tournament prizes.

Prizes will be awarded for “Biggest Fish” in categories 1, 2, & 3. Each contestant will be limited to entering one fish in each of the categories. The total length of the fish will be measured. In case of a tie in length, the girth measurement will take priority. If a tie still exists, the prize will be shared by the winners. Creel winner is based on points for total fish caught in registered species categories

Four Categories:

  1. Trout/Salmon
  2. Perch
  3. Pike
  4. Creel

New Mexico Game and Fish and State Park Regulations will be enforced!

1st Place – 40% of the cash prize

2nd Place – 30% of the cash prize

3rd Place – 20% of the cash prize

4th Place – 10% of the cash prize

Polar Bear Stomp

polar-bear-stompThis easy, one-hour snowshoe hike is along the shore of Eagle Nest Lake. We’ll enjoy the scenic views and watch for birds. We may even get a visit from a “polar bear”! After the hike we’ll warm up with hot chocolate. Bring snowshoes, water and warm clothes.

When: January 1, 2016 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am
