Angel Fire Beautification Committee Says “I Know Jo, Do You?”

Be Angel Fire Proud – Think “Christmas” In July

Three months ago under the guidance of Councilman Chuck Howe, by recommendation of Mayor Barbara Cottam, a committee for the Beautification of Angel Fire was formed and quickly changed its name to Angel Fire Proud. They want residents and businesses in Angel Fire to be proud of how our village is perceived. A sub-committee within this committee consisting of four dynamic energetic women: Lisa Mitchell, Cynthia Collier, Lysa Hopson, and Jan Shank, has have taken on the task of Holiday Decorations for Angel Fire. Lisa said, “When our visitors drive into the village, we want them to be wowed! We are a resort community, their first impression is extremely important.” The idea this committee wants to portray is “Light up, Angel Fire”.

Holiday decorations are somewhat like fireworks. Beautiful, brilliant, and stunning. They tend to cause many unexpected smiles to cross faces! Angel Fire Proud wants everyone to get into the spirit. They are encouraging businesses and homeowners to decorate for the season. We are far from a drab community, so why look drab during the holidays? In addition to the contribution of decorating your own space, Angel Fire Proud is giving you the opportunity to sponsor community decorations on a larger scale.

First, you may purchase a 24″ Wreath complete with red bow for only $20.00. (Imagine how lovely the village will be if every business displays this wreath!) Next, each of the lampposts on North Angel Fire Road, leading up to the ski mountain, will be wrapped in 12′ of garland and topped with a large 24″ red bow. You may sponsor one of these lamp posts for a contribution of $125. If you’d like to sponsor on the next level, consider a garland/bow and an all season banner for only $280. These banners will represent the changing seasons. Local photographs along with the state brand, Angel Fire is New Mexico is True will be on the banners. Or maybe you want to be a grand finale sponsor (my wording not theirs) and choose the decorations for light posts on Hwy 434. Available are a 6′ Snowflake for $390. or an 8′ Lighted Skier for $1065. (See flyer below)

Not only is your donation is tax deductible; every sponsor will be honored on a plaque to be displayed in Village Hall. Plus you will be recognized in a 1/2-page ad placed in the Sangre de Cristo Chronicle.

I, for one, am very excited about this project. I’d love to see the residents and businesses of Angel Fire unite together and help make Angel Fire more attractive, not only for us, but our guests as well. It will give us all a sense of pride. Whether you are a full time resident or a part time resident, it doesn’t matter. You can still participate! Angel Fire Proud is planning ahead. When the holiday season comes this year, they want to enhance our winter wonderland look. The committee would like to encourage white lights for uniformity, but whatever you wish will be fine!

To sponsor this project please contact Lisa Mitchell, 575-377-5189. Or you may send a check, made out to Angel Fire Community Foundation, to The Village of Angel Fire, P.O. Box 610, Angel Fire, NM 87710. Be sure to tell them which decorations you want to sponsor. Make your plans early as to how you want to decorate your homes and businesses this holiday season. Let’s be proud of Angel Fire!
