Chamber Newsletter, Events & Updates

November 6, 2013 By Dave C. Leave a Comment

By Jo Mixon, Executive Director
Angel Fire Chamber of Commerce

SNOW… it’s what’s in the forecast! I have already had to shovel the snow off of my deck twice this year, in October! Excitement is in the air as we head into the winter season.Wax up your skis and boards, pull out your winter gear and plan to be skiing/snowboarding down the mountain at the Angel Fire Resort on Opening Day, December 13, 2013.

The Village of Angel Fire will look magical this Holiday season. Everything will be festively lit and the credit goes to the Angel Fire Beautification “Angel Fire Proud” committee. This committee and Tracy Orr, Angel Fire Village Sales and Marketing Director, together have collected $15,220 for new Holiday decorations. Seventy-six businesses and individuals are participating in this program. Tracy said, “We have collected for the following items: 41 garlands with bows (for our street lamps), 25 banners (both summer & winter), 10 lighted snowflakes, 1 lighted skier (thanks to the members and friends of the Angel Fire Chamber) and 53 wreaths.” All of the wreaths will be delivered before December 5, the date everyone is asked to light up! In coordination with this effort, the Chamber is sponsoring a Holiday Decoration Contest. Not only do we want our streets to look amazing, we’d like every business and residence in Angel Fire to join the celebration. The deadline for entering the contest is November 22, 2013.

The evening of Thursday, December 5 will be a night to remember! First, from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm, we’ll all meet at Village Hall for the Tree Lighting Ceremony. We’ll enjoy hot chocolate and cookies as we gather together. Immediately following, we’ll all head over to the Community Center for the Enchanted Christmas Tree Festival sponsored by the Sangre de Cristo Chronicle. This annual event helps many local non-profits and charities with donations made from the tree auction. This year all of the money collected at the door will be donated to the Angel Fire Beautification committee. Appetizers will be served and “The Damn Band” will play from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm.

Mark your November and December Calendars because you don’t want to miss any of these up-coming activities and events:
