John Sutton & Jo
Reputable, that’s my word for John R. Sutton, General Building Contractor, Inc. John is a third generation building contractor who strives for excellence in his work. In 1985, he went to work full time in the family business with his Dad, Richard. Seven years later, his sister Bonnie, Office Executor, became a part of their team. Since then Richard has retired. John and Bonnie continue to run the business and the Sutton legacy lives on.
They moved to Angel Fire in 1978. John went to high school here, years later he met and married the love of his life here, he is raising his sons here and he intends to always own property here. Therefore a “great reputation” is extremely important to him! Knowing this, you’ll get only quality work from John R. Sutton, General Building Contractor.
When I asked him what kept him doing this job he said, “We’ve been fortunate with the homes we’ve been able to build and the friends we’ve made throughout the years!” He says clients become friends for a lifetime. He believes in treating his friends with respect. He and Bonnie customize each home for the individual client. They even provide a fun perk for their clients, most of whom live out of state. On the Sutton Construction webpage, they have set up a client log-in area. Each client receives their own page. John documents everything for them. From the clearing of the trees and the surveying of the land to the completion of the home when it’s move-in ready, he takes photos. Lots and lots of photos. Then every Friday he uploads the photos for his clients so they can be a part of the process. They can follow every detail of what is happening on their home no matter where they may live.
John spoke about building quality. He wants his work to last for the long haul. He strives to provide homes that are low maintenance for his homeowners. Long lasting and energy efficient while working within the clients budgets… these things really matter to him.
Speaking toward the quality and attention to detail of his work, one of Sutton’s houses won the Grand Hacienda Award in the Parade of Homes in 2013 and then another one won in 2014! This event, held every Labor Day weekend, showcases homes built or remodeled by area builders. It is sponsored by the Sangre de Cristo Homebuilders Association.
Although well known for their new homes they also do home additions, kitchen and bathroom remodels, deck extensions and more. For a look at their gallery of photos, courtesy of Jeff Cavan, or for more information, visit their website at www.suttonconstruction.com. And something I really like about them, they have been a member in good standing of the Angel Fire Chamber of Commerce for over twenty years!
When not working, John spends time with his family taking advantage of the full potential the Moreno Valley has to offer. They hike, they bike, they ski & snowboard and they are actively involved with the Angel Fire community.
