Angel Fire Chiropractic Says “I Know Jo, Do You?”

Jo & Dr. Jennifer Fitch

I guarantee you that people in Angel Fire were tremendously excited when Dr. Jennifer Fitch moved to our village and opened up her practice, Angel Fire Chiropractic. Living in a mountain setting that begs you to be an active outdoors person means almost everyone here hikes and bikes and skis and golfs, etc. etc. With all the outdoorsy active lifestyles, comes a constant need for body adjustments. And now we are in the excellent capable hands of Dr. Fitch, she keeps our bodies in alignment!

I asked her who really needs a chiropractor? She said, “If you have a spine and you are breathing, but please don’t wait until you are in terrible pain.” Her clients range from children to geriatric, even pregnant women. All of whom benefit from chiropractic adjustments.

So what is chiropractic care and why do you need it? Improper function of the spine due to slight misalignments can cause pain, discomfort, and poor health or function, even in areas far removed from the spine and spinal cord itself. No part of your body escapes the dominance of your nervous system. Misalignments can also reduce the ability of your body to adapt to its ever-changing environment. Even the slightest malfunction of your spine may alter the regular transmission of nerve impulses, preventing that portion of your body from responding optimally. Chiropractic care is a natural form of health care that uses spinal adjustments to correct misalignments and restore proper function to the nervous system. This helps your body to heal naturally without the use drugs or surgery. A chiropractic spinal adjustment uses the application of a precise force to a specific part of the spinal segment to correct the misalignment, permitting normal nerve transmission and assisting your body to recuperate on its own.

Dr. Fitch came here last year to start her practice and begin the process of becoming a full time Angel Fire resident. She and husband Mark have owned property in Angel Fire since 2003. At that time they were both in the military, stationed at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, when they received a postcard from RCI selling timeshares in Angel Fire. They thought, why not? She said when they drove out of the canyon and saw the beauty of the Moreno Valley for the first, it was, and I quote, “As if the heavens opened up and they looked at each other and thought… we are going to live here one day.” They didn’t however know it would be in just a few short years. But after they had researched the schools and the area, they decided not to put it off any longer. They wanted to give their children the benefits of being raised here. So with Mark still in the military in Virginia, Dr. Fitch began the process of moving. At first it was on week-ends and in bits and pieces. Their two children now attend Eagle Nest Elementary and she has become active in the community as a girl scout leader, joined the Garden Club and PTA and sits on the Board of Director’s of the Angel Fire Chamber of Commerce. She is also on staff with the National Veterans Wellness and Healing Center providing services at veterans retreats. Then in December 2015, after 29 years of Military Service, Mark joined her and the children.

Mark was there while I was interviewing Dr. Fitch and I asked how they met. They giggled and looked at each other with huge grins. She said,”We were both in the military, stationed in Bosnia.” He said, “We met in Bosnia at a British Pub.” They looked at each other again and almost started laughing. She said, “We’ll leave it at that.” He quickly agreed, “Yes, we should.” shaking his head and smiling. Sounds like a story for another time!

Dr. Fitch is now located at 3379 Mountain View Blvd. Suite A-1, in Angel Fire. Her office is open by appointment only. Starting May 1, 2016, her regular office hours will be Monday to Thursday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and Friday by appointment only. To reserve your appointment, call 575-613-2148. She has a cash only practice.

She also told me, in a perfect world, she is hoping to do a little remodeling in her new location and may possibly look to include an acupuncturist in the office. Massage Therapist, Kathy Dunbar is already in house. Together they work toward natural healing for their clients.

Angel Fire Chiropractic would like to invite you to attend the Business After Hours on May 26, 2016 from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm.
