Just like that, a year has passed since I was asked by the Board of Directors for the Angel Fire Chamber of Commerce to serve as president. I have learned a lot this year, and some things I already knew are cemented in my beliefs.
1. Angel Fire, you are an awesome community. We have many so many hard working people here who believe the best about our community and our beautiful valley and who are willing to invest their time, money and efforts to watch it evolve into everything that it can be. They are actively working for that goal in their businesses, churches, schools, government, arts and other organizations. Our people are our best asset. Why? That leads me to…
2. They have learned that we don’t exist without each other. In this community, we are like a three-legged stool with Village, Chamber and Resort each being a vital leg. If any of us fails, the stool falls. So we work together to make the best happen for each.
3. When we work together, we get noticed. Being recognized and promoted by other organizations across the state is important to our economy via other Chambers, Tourist Lobby groups, Department of Tourism, Governor and State Legislature. Our little jewel Angel Fire is being noticed by all of these, and as we encourage involvement with other Chambers around the Enchanted Circle, we will see more positive things happen.
4. Jo, you are amazing! We are fortunate to have a tireless Director who understands this and is able to establish relationships across the state as she sings Angel Fire’s praises to every corner of the state and keeps us informed of the legislation which can affect all of us. I would encourage any Chamber member who wants to voice our interests to listening ears to accompany Jo to some of the round tables she attends in Santa Fe to help our businesses get things done.
It’s been a great experience and I know that I will remain active and hope to see all of you in the coming months as we continue to make Angel Fire strong!
Note: Please plan to attend the Quarterly Membership Breakfast meeting May 10, 2016 at 8:00 am in the foyer of the Angel Fire Chamber of Commerce to say thank you to Wende for her professional dynamic leadership this past year. And be a part of the celebration as her gavel is pasted to incoming Chairman of the Board, Michael Dean.
