Music from Angel Fire celebrates its 33rd Summer Festival from August 19 through September 3. Twelve concert performances and numerous festival events will take place in the beautiful New Mexico mountain communities of Angel Fire, Taos, Raton and Las Vegas. The 2016 season explores a rich history of literature and music combined to create the theme, “Storytelling – poetry and literature in music.” Artistic Director and violinist Ida Kavafian hand-selected the season’s programs which bring stories to life through music performed by a host of nationally renowned artists.
The opening week includes concerts in Angel Fire and Las Vegas, and a performance at the Taos Center for the Arts. The season kicks off with the return of festival-favorite ensemble Time for Three, the genre defying string trio that includes Nikki Chooi, a 2010 and 2011 Music from Angel Fire Young Artist alumni. Time for Three will perform at the Angel Fire Community Center on August 19 and at the Taos Center for the Arts on August 20. Also featured this opening week is the world premiere of Iberian Songs by Composer-in-Residence Gabriela Lena Frank and performed by the GRAMMY-nominated soprano Tony Arnold, on August 24 at the Angel Fire Community Center.
